The second in a series of films about Southend and its people, the Lightpainter follows local photo artist Dmitrij in his quest to conjure beauty in the dark. Using long exposure photography, light and fire, he creates images where there are none, producing something from nothing. Shot along the seafront and on the iconic Southend pier and utilising night vision cameras, the resultant film won best documentary at the Horsham Film Festival.
